This is a tick trap. The cooler contains dry ice, which releases CO2 to mimic an animal host.  This attracts ticks to the platform where they get stuck in the double-sided tape as they attempt to reach the CO2 source.  These traps are deployed around the parish for 24 hours at a time.  Ticks collected will be recorded and evaluated for the presence of disease.
